“The humor of Bombeck and warmth of a best girlfriend… one of the funniest things I’ve ever read.” Celia Rivenbark, New York Times bestselling author of You Don’t Sweat Much For a Fat Girl

If you don’t have anything nice to say about motherhood, then… read this book. Robin O’Bryant offers a no holds barred look at the day to day life of being a mother to three, running a household and the everyday monotony of parenting.

It’s not always pretty but it’s real. Whether she’s stuffing cabbage in her bra… dealing with defiant yet determined daughters… yelling at the F.B.I… or explaining the birds and the bees to her preschooler… you’re sure to find dozens of humorous and relatable situations.

From the creator of Robin’s Chicks, one of the South’s most popular blogs on motherhood, misunderstandings and musings, comes a collection of essays that will not only make you laugh and cry, but realize that you’re not alone in your journey.

Sit back and relax, pour yourself some “mommy juice,” throw a fresh diaper on your baby and deadbolt the bedroom door to keep your kids out… because once you start reading you’ll be too busy wiping away tears of laughter to wipe anybody’s butt.

  1. Looks great but what’s the book about?

  2. I just want to tell you much I love “Ketchup is a Vegetable”. It was like reading about my life. I have 4 kids between 19 months and 8 and I was so happy someone else “got it” about being a mother. And for the record, my 3 year old is far worse than Dennis the Menace and has actually handed my husband a handful of poop, but only after she first smeared poo (more than I thought her small bowels could possibly) hold all over her bedroom walls, carpet and toys. I wasn’t home (THANK GOODNESS), but I saw and smelled the aftermath and it was impressive.

    • HEY Beth!! I’m glad you love the book! Please leave an Amazon review if you haven’t! Huge help to me!

Good. LAWD. At the chirren playin’ in the poop. I do not miss that stage not one little teeny tiny bit. Not one bit.

  3. Lawd, I have to say that your book is a breath of fresh air for this uprooted Southern Daffodil. It took me all of maybe a full day to read your book and now I’m re-reading it to make sure I didn’t miss anything while I was holdin’ back the tears and pee while laughin’ As a former full- time nanny and as a, now, full time step-mother, I can testify to the validity of your personal accounts both as an outside and a newly initiated member of the “clan”. Your book is a wonderful reminder that we are not alone in our long suffering of children and husbands and that we all have a story to share. Keep up the good fight, Robin, and kiss my sweet Southern soil and soak in a bit of those Southern sun rays for me, won’tcha?

    • Thank you so much Nicole!! Now can you cut and paste that whole thing and make it an Amazon review?? Cuz that helps me a lot! Find me on FB if you haven’t already! I run my mouth over there all the damn time!

  5. OMGoodness! I just finished reading your book in two days.I have NEVER laughed so hard in my life over a book. I had to read a few things out loud to my hubby…(boys just dont see our “motherly” humor). I have a blog and mainly talk about my son and family life… I will definitely be recommend your book to my readers. I can not wait to read “A Second Helping” and sit down with a BIG glass of “mommy juice”. Where can I find this book?

  6. ROBIN,
Your books never disappoint me! Always lifting my spirits after a long day of dealing with my sweet but crazy 3 year old. I just finished “A Second Helping”; please keep them coming! I love your writing style. I laughed and cried. “Press pause please” describes parenthood beautifully and I thank you for the reminder to enjoy those times.

  7. Loved it!! It was so funny!
