Leaving Super Bowl party… Me: Who won? Hubs: I did. Me: You won the Super Bowl? Hubs: I won the office pool. Me: Oh. Who won the game? Hubs: The Giants. Me: Oh… who were they playing? I got what I went for: bacon dip, Fritos, beer and girl talk. Good times. Yay Giants?

In October of last year I attended my first writer’s conference at my alma mater, Auburn University. I signed up for group classes when I registered for the conference. I signed up for a session taught by a writer friend and chose a couple of classes on writing memoirs, and truth in storytelling. Sadie Says: Don't Be Sad

For the last two weeks everybody in my house save The Husband has been on antibiotics. We have had a tooth pulled… “Mommy? I can’t feel myself anymore…” And after a four hour round trip drive to see a pediatrician Sadie was diagnosed with “a little pneumonia” which says a lot about her disposition and general meanness as of late. As you may or may not know, I was sick with Not Scarlet Fever and I’m still recovering. I’ve been going through some old columns working on the second book and this one made me laugh out loud. Sometimes that whole Mommy Memory Thing really works in my favor… Aubrey, my 5-year-old has gotten into a fun new phase. It all started this summer when I unknowingly bought popsicles with jokes on the sticks. I had to explain every punch line, and the jokes weren’t really funny to start with, but a standup comedienne was born. Kids are funny. This cracked me up and instead of cleaning my house I made a video, uploaded it to youtube then embedded the link here for you. It only killed about 15 minutes but that was 15 minutes I was technically “working” and not cleaning… so there’s that. And Sadie made me laugh and that’s always fun.
